This autumn has proven to be very busy as I have visited communities across District 19 in preparing for the upcoming legislative session. I have appreciated all the feedback and great ideas to help make our communities and state a better place to live. As autumn draws to a close I hope everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the holidays which are quickly approaching.
I want to remind everyone that December 1st is my 20th (yes, 20th!) Annual Toy Drive and Christmas Party! There is still space available, so if you’re reading this before 6pm on Thursday evening, head down to VFW Post 9186, bring a toy, and join us for dinner, door prizes, and a great time!
Once we collect enough toys, "Senator Santa" will make his journey out into District 19 to ensure some very deserving children receive a toy this year. Keep an eye on my Facebook[JH1] , as you will never see a happier group of kids than those who get a visit from Senator Santa, Frosty the Snowman, and the Tree!
As the year draws to a close and the holidays are approaching, many charities throughout the district could use your help. There are many worthy causes that could use a contribution, such as the San Antonio Food Bank, ChildSafe, or the United Way, in fact I have shared opportunities to get involved in previous newsletters. This month I’d like to ask you to please also consider helping San Antonio Pets with a year-end charitable donation.
There are more animals that need a home than we have room for in our shelters, and San Antonio Pets Alive is there to help care for these animals and connect them with a loving family. You can make a direct donation, or view their wish list of needed items by clicking here (http://www.sanantoniopetsalive.org/donate).
I wish you and your family happy holidays, a Merry Christmas, and a safe and prosperous New Year.
