Harlandale Independent School District celebrated its 34th annual Cultural Arts Parade and Festival Sept. 19.

This year's theme, "A Culture of Champions, Cultura de Campeones," was a true reflection of the academic excellence and success that is embedded throughout the Harlandale ISD.

The Harlandale community turned out in record numbers to watch the parade and attend the student performances. This year's cultural Arts Parade and Festival was truly one of the best events experienced in Harlandale.

Our students, faculty, staff, parents and volunteers worked extremely hard to create their distinctive works of art and their uniquely creative parade floats.

You could sense the passion and excitement with every choir and stage performance. We truly have very talented and artistic students in our district and we are so proud to offer them this extraordinary opportunity to highlight their talents. On behalf of the entire Harlandale ISD, I would like to extend our sincere appreciation and gratitude to our parade grand marshals: State Sen. Carlos Uresti and State Rep. Joe Farias.

They truly serve as "champions for our children." I would also like to express our extreme gratitude to all of our Harlandale family members whose efforts provided us with such a special day and helped make these magic moments possible.
